National Institute for Health and Care Research joins as new conference partner

The partnership of PHI UK, UKPRP PRN and NIHR brings together three of the UK’s leading health research networks and funders, enabling Prevention Research 2026 to convene wide-ranging perspectives on the future of research and action for better prevention, population health and equity.
Keynote speaker announced: Professor Sharon Friel
We are pleased to announce Prof Sharon Friel as a keynote speaker. Professor Friel is a leading authority on health equity and climate change. A Laureate Fellow at the Australian National University, she explores how political and economic systems shape global health. Her 2019 book Climate Change and the People’s Health examines how today’s consumption-driven world affects both people and planet.
Healthy and Equitable Futures Fishbowl
Prof Petra Meier, Policy Modelling for Health Director, will chair an interactive listening, discussion and critical thinking session, addressing the questions:
What could a healthy and equitable future look like?
What may be key trends and influences that will shape equity in health for future generations?
What would it look like if the future is less healthy and equitable?
Conference attendees will be able to take their turn to get involved. Speakers kicking things off include Prof Jayati Das-Munshi, Prof Rosie McEachan, Dr Nason Maani, Dr Esther Chanakira and Daniel Black.
